Antwerp.....The pedestrian tunnel (de Voetgangers tunnel)

It is certainly worth walking or cycling to the other side of the Scheldt: left bank.
You can do this via the Sint-Annatunnel, or what we call the 'pedestrian tunnel'.
This tunnel was built in 1931 and is 572m long.
The inner wall is covered with ceramic wall tiles in the Art Deco style, as is the building at the entrance.
This tunnel can be reached via the Hoogstraat, and is located on the 'Sint Jansvliet'.
There is also an antique market here every Sunday morning.
A lot of basketball is played on this square, a legacy of the American soldiers who stayed here during WO II.
